Fried frog legs in garlic and lime juice have been popular for centuries. No wonder, for this delicious dish is truly delectable. You can see for yourself - at Colette we have prepared Guisses de grenouilles as the special of the week.
No frogs
Although the French are often derisively referred to as frog eaters, this claim is rather a myth. In fact, frog hunting has been banned in France for more than 25 years. That is one of the reasons why frog legs are an exclusive dish.
However, this was not always the case. As late as the 17th century, frog legs were still a dietary staple of the poor. Their popularity was kick-started by Alexander Dumas, who published a large cookery dictionary. His recipe for frog's legs with parsley became his most famous.

The simple, delicious and nutritious meat was almost immediately loved by the French and for many years frog legs became a staple of French gastronomy.
Today, you can enjoy them only in selected upscale restaurants. But if you happen to come across them, do not hesitate to try them. You won't regret it.
