The smell of wine, hot chocolate or delicious tea is inseparable from autumn. Did you know that the wine-loving French don't even like tea? They even consider themselves its discoverers. This drink has many beneficial effects on human health, calms the mind and completes the perfect atmosphere during autumn days. Prepare a cup of tea and read more about this popular drink.

Its history began to be written in ancient China even before our era. Legend has it that the first tea leaf was plucked by Emperor Shennong, who, thanks to chance, discovered the refreshing effects and great taste of tea. He was later followed by his subjects, who began to brew tea leaves in cauldrons.

But how did this delicious drink come to Europe?

It all started in a French chateau

Although the English are generally considered to be the discoverers of tea in Europe, the French do not want to give them the credit. They claim that thedrink came to Europe thanks to an eccentric monarch known as the Sun King. It was Louis XIV who was one of the lovers of this healthy drink, which he drank every day on the recommendation of court physicians.

The Chateau de Versailles is also associated with the creation of the iconic chateau railings. They too became famous in France thanks to the King and his wife.

How do the French drink tea?

If we want to get to grips with French tea drinking, we have to start with its cultivation. The French are well-known wine lovers and only use selected sites and fields to grow their grapes. And the same is true when it comes to growing tea. In fact, the French give both beverages a devout respect.

You can also find genuine French tea from Kusmi Tea at Colette.

Once they have their premium tickets ready, which they buy at the Salon du Thé, they set about preparing the drink. They also take the preparation very seriously and do everything slowly and meticulously. Once the leaves are leached, they must be removed immediately. This is the only way to preserve their delicious flavour and delicate aroma.

They never forget to prepare fresh madeleines or other small pastries for a hot drink. Like the English, the French like to add milk to their tea.

When you drink French tea, don't forget to prepare crispy madeleines according to our original recipe. Or place the perfect handmade Colette biscuits on the table, light the candles and enjoy the present moment. Just like the French do.
